§ 1042.04. Private sewage disposal systems.

  • Where a public sanitary sewer or combination storm and sanitary sewer is not available under section 1042.03, the building sewer shall be connected to a private sewage treatment system complying with all recommendations of the Ohio State Department of Health.

    Septic tank contents or effluent shall not be emptied into the public sewer system, except under the direction and supervision of the superintendent only, and he may direct that water be added to dilute the contents at the expense of the owner. The permit shall so state that permission to empty such septic tanks contents or effluent is requested.

    The owner shall operate and maintain the private sewage treatment facilities referred to herein, in a sanitary manner at all times, at no expense to the municipality.

    No statement contained in this section shall be construed to interfere with any additional requirements that may be imposed by the health authority having jurisdiction.
